इसे मेवाड़ नरेश राणा कुम्भा ने महमूद खिलजी के नेतृत्व वाली मालवा और गुजरात की सेनाओं पर विजय के स्मारक के रूप में सन् 1440-1448 के मध्य बनवाया था। यह राजस्थान पुलिस ओर माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड का प्रतीक चिन्ह है। इसे विष्णु स्तम्भ भी कहा जाता हैं।

It was built by Mewar King Rana Kumbha between 1440-1448 as a memorial to the victory over the armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji. It is a symbol of the Rajasthan Police and Board of Secondary Education. It is also called Vishnu Stambha.
